Our Foundation's Story

From Glenwood Avenue to Generational Opportunity

Jackson Futures Foundation is rooted in family, community, and the belief that where someone begins should not determine how far they can go. The Foundation draws inspiration from the Jackson family legacy — from Nathan and Elvira Jackson, who raised twelve children with discipline, faith, and an insistence that each generation stand taller than the last.

That legacy lived on Glenwood Avenue, in Buffalo's Cold Spring neighborhood, where our founder was raised. It was a block where neighbors looked out for one another, where porches doubled as classrooms, and where the gap between a family's potential and its opportunities was visible every single day.

Jackson Futures Foundation exists to close that gap — honoring the history of Cold Spring by investing in its future, and carrying the Jackson family example into structured programs that build wellness, stability, and generational opportunity.

We envision communities where individuals and families have equitable access to the knowledge, resources, relationships, and opportunities necessary to build healthy, stable, financially secure, and generationally prosperous lives.

MISSION

Jackson Futures Foundation empowers individuals and families through integrated financial education, housing and health resources, educational opportunities, and mindset development, creating pathways to long-term stability and generational opportunity.

A young foundation with deep roots

Jackson Futures Foundation, Inc. is a New York nonprofit corporation headquartered in Buffalo. Founded by Janelle Brooks and governed by a working board of community leaders, the Foundation is building its program portfolio around Glenwood Rise — the flagship initiative named for the street where the story began. Our inaugural Foundations Cohort launches in Fall 2026.
